Treñas: Protocols in place for health, safety of repatriated OFWs tested for COVID-19

ILOILO CITY, May 1 (PIA6) - - Proper protocols have been put in place for the health and safety of the nine repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who tested positive for corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in a rapid antibody test.

“We have put in place proper protocols for health and safety in close coordination with the hotel management,” said Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas in a post in the Iloilo City government official Facebook page.

In a press conference, April 30, Treñas confirmed that nine OFWs, seven from Iloilo City and two from Guimaras, turned out positive for COVID-19.

The said OFWS are among the 35 OFWs from this city and five from Guimaras who underwent a RAPID test upon their arrival in this city aboard on a Malasakit Voyage on April 29.

Currently, the OFWs from Iloilo City and Guimaras are on quarantine in a hotel in this city while waiting for their PCR test result.

Treñas said he will put the hotel, where the OFWs are staying, on lockdown. (laf/PIA6-Iloilo/Photo courtesy of CMO))
