Buy-bust operation in Taguig City yields P81.6 million of illegal drugs

CALOOCAN CITY, May 25 (PIA)--PNP Chief Police General Archie Francisco F Gamboa lauds the PNP NCRPO Operatives and the PNP Drug Enforcement Group for neutralizing 2 drug suspects and recovering P81.6 M of illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation in Taguig City on Friday.

The joint buy-bust operation led by elements of NCRPO and PDEG on May 22, 2020 around 7PM along C6 Road, Lower Bicutan, Taguig City resulted in armed encounter causing the neutralization of two suspects, Ryan Labanderia, 26 years old, resident of Ormoc, Leyte and Ervyn Querobin, 35 years old from Correta, Cebu.

Based on the spot report, the two suspects upon sensing that they were dealing with police operatives, immediately fled the scene resulting in an armed encounter with chasing PDEG operatives resulted in the death of Labanderia and Querobin.

Confiscated from the possession of the suspects were Twelve (12) large packs of dangerous drugs wrapped in Chinese Tea Bags suspected to be “shabu” weighing 12 kilos valued at P81, 600,000. Also recovered from the scene were P1M buy-bust money; Blue Toyota Altis with plate number XNC 631; Black Nissan Navarra with no plate number; 1 Caliber 45 pistol and 1 KG9 sub machine gun.

Photographs, markings, and inventory of confiscated evidence was done at the place of the incident duly witnessed by Barangay Councilor Dennis Reyes Adriano of Barangay Lower Bicutan, Taguig City and representative from the media. Confiscated drug evidences were brought to PNP Crime Laboratory for examination.

“The PNP continues to be in frontline of ensuring public safety by going after illegal drugs. We will be relentless in our pursuit of criminals even as we are facing the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said PNP Chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa in a statement said.
