Dgte prepares to accept OFWs, stranded individuals

DUMAGUETE CITY, May 27 (PIA) –- The Dumaguete City government expressed its commitment to process, accept, and quarantine all returning Overseas Filipinos Workers (OFWs) and locally stranded individuals (LSIs).

However, Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo has appealed to national government agencies concerned to provide accurate and advance information on the arriving OFWs or LSIs.

Remollo expressed hope that the national agencies involved in the repatriation of OFWs and return of LGIs will be able to communicate accurately the number of returning residents and actual date/time of arrivals so that adequate personnel and vehicle will be deployed by the City’s Inter-Agency Task Force COVID-19.

Several vehicles - one of them a bus - are prepared to pick up the returning residents from the airport, seaport or terminals.

They will be assessed and placed under the mandatory 14-day quarantine at a government isolation facility or designated hotel.

The mayor confirms that returning residents are required, upon their arrival, to present a Medical Clearance Certification issued by the City/Municipal Health Officer and Travel Authority issued by the Joint Task Force Central Visayas (JTF CV) Shield of place of origin.

Meanwhile, repatriated OFWs must obtain negative results of the mandatory RE-PCR testing prior to their transport back to the city. (jct/PIA7 Negros Oriental with reports from CPIO Dems Demecillo )
