CALOOCAN CITY, June 1 (PIA) --Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso on Saturday, May 30 said he is hoping to open the city's own COVID-19 testing laboratory on June 15.

Domagoso said that once the construction is finished, the city government would be able process more or less 1,000 swab tests per day.

"So doon kami nakafocus sa COVID-19. While we are gearing towards the new norms, habang nabubuhay ang negosyo at nabubuhay ang tao, ang gobyerno naman ay naka focus sa COVID-19," Domagoso said.

The mayor added that the machines to be used for testing are already at the Sta. Ana Hospital, where the Manila Infectious Disease Control Center (MIDCC) is located.

The Sta. Ana Hospital has already discharged 100 COVID-19 recovered patients since the start of the operation of the MIDCC. (Manila PIO/PIA-NCR)
