OWWA Bicol urges OFWs to access “Uwian Na” portal

LEGAZPI CITY, May 28 (PIA) — In response to the Overseas Filipino Workers’ (OFWs) plea to return in their hometown, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Region 5 encourages Bicolano OFWs to register at the “Uwian Na” portal to expedite its transportation arrangement.

Bicolano OFWs can register at the uwianna.owwa.gov.ph so they can be provided with unhampered transport services as they return to their respective provinces here in Bicol.

Recently, OWWA Bicol stated that 95 Bicolano OFWs from different jobsites on board of four buses have safely returned from Metro Manila through the 'Uwian Na Program'.

Thirty-four of them were from Camarines Sur, 24 from Albay, 14 from Sorsogon, 13 from Camarines Norte, seven from Catanduanes, and three from Masbate.

Rowena Alzaga, OWWA Bicol Information Officer, said that there were still Bicolano OFWs who wish to avail the program and were set to return in the region through air and land travel.

The OWWA Bicol Repat Team is coordinating the unhampered travel as well as the endorsement to quarantine facilities since the returning OFWs must complete the 14-day quarantine procedures.

As the implementation of general community quarantine and closure of borders prevail in Bicol, the OFWs will comply with the guidelines and protocols mandated by their corresponding provinces or Provincial Health Offices.

On the other hand, OWWA clarified that only those OFWs with negative Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) result and are listed at OWWA quarantine facilities are qualified to register at the Uwian Na Program.

The OFW applicants will receive a confirmation via email upon their registration to the program.

OWWA stated that the Uwian Na portal helps them in fast tracking the travel arrangement since the OFW applicants can be easily grouped based on their destinations. (PIA5/CEB)
