SIQUIJOR, May 2 (PIA) -- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Siquijor Provincial Office in collaboration with Lazi Technical Institute (LTI) conducted a mass production of washable face masks for the frontliners as contribution to the government’s effort to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 within the province of Siquijor.

LTI initiated the mass production of washable face masks, bread, and cookies primarily for the health workers, uniformed personnel, and other essential workers who act as frontliners in the fight against the pandemic disease.

LTI trainers and graduates of the scholarship programs in Dressmaking and Tailoring NC II helped in the mass production of face masks.

Bread and Pastry Production NC II trainers and graduates also offered free services to produce bread and cookies.

The volunteers used the sewing and baking facilities in Lazi Technical Institute.

Some used their own sewing machines at home and handed their finished face masks to TESDA Siquijor for the distribution.

The sewers were provided with allowance and incentives, but most of them offered free services to help and support the frontliners and the people of Siquijor.

TESDA Siquijor already distributed more than 2,000 washable face masks and 1,000 packs of bread and cookies for free to barangay health workers, hospitals, Rural Health Units (RHUs), checkpoints, and security personnel in all municipalities within the province.

TESDA has put into action its theme “TESDA Abot Lahat” by stretching its capacity and resources to help and support our frontliners amidst this pandemic.

Currently, the production decreases due to very limited materials.

Should there be materials provided from any private individuals, associations or LGUs, TESDA, together with LTI are willing and open to showcase and extend its skills and expertise to render its services for free. (rac/PIA7-Siquijor/EAApiag/TESDA-LTI)
