CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, June 6 (PIA) – National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)-10 Regional Director Mylah Fe Aurora B. Cariño bared during "Talakayan sa PIA" that the regional recovery program to address the socio-economic impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has already been crafted.
The regional recovery program will serve as a road map for the rehabilitation and recovery of the region from the adverse effects of the pandemic, covering several sectors like the economy, social services, infrastructure, transportation and governance.

Aside from these sectors, the government also looks at other cross cutting concerns such as peace and order, gender sensitivity and the environment.
“So far, based on what we have crafted, it will actually require an investment of around P197 billion for us to be able to recover from the impact of COVID -19. Our program will complement our regional development plan which we actually updated last year," she said, adding "we look at COVID as a setback but a very unique setback because it actually altered our lives; it altered the way we do things and we look at things."
Cariño explained that the economy will face the new normal which could no longer be reverted to "the old normal" to which the business sector must adjust.
As the economy tries to recover, the success lies in the whole-of-nation and whole-of-society approach.
“The government cannot do it alone. We have to pitch in our share, even if we have no resources to give. Our share could come in a form of being mindful of our responsibilities by ensuring that we follow the very basic health protocols,” she emphasized.
"The challenge now is how to be more resilient, resilient as a people, how to make our economy our health system more resilient, our educational services more resilient and our community in general more resilient,” Cariño added.
She also encouraged everyone to be optimistic to keep his mind healthy and to stay productive in the midst of COVID. (JAKA/PIA-10)
