SAN JOSE, Antique, June 4 (PIA6) -- Local cases of patients afflicted with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the province of Antique have fully recovered, based on the latest data from the Provincial Health Office.
“We are glad to tell everyone that as of June 1, the province of Antique has been free from COVID-19 in the local setting because all of our positive cases have recovered already, ” according to Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Ric Noel Naciongayo, who is also the province's Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) spokesperson.
During the IATF press conference, Naciongayo said that the 14 local confirmed cases were from the towns of Pandan and Semirara Island of Caluya.
Meanwhile, of the four repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who were tested positive, two have already recuperated from COVID-19.
Naciongayo assured that the two remaining OFW patients were isolated in their respective quarantine facilities.
He also expressed his appreciation to Antiqueños for their discipline in following health protocols and community quarantine guidelines to ensure that the community is free from the virus disease.
“Ang pagpasalamat sa tanan nga nagbulig ang pumuluyo naton ilabi na gid (we express our gratitude to those who extended help especially to our constituents), but of course we will not relax. We will not let our guards down,” he said.
On the other hand, Antique Police Provincial Office director PCol. Roy Parena reiterated his call to the public to remain vigilant and cooperative now that Antique has eased travel restrictions due to the modified general community quarantine implementation.
“Umaasa kami sa inyong full cooperation. Tandaan nyo pag bumalik ulit ang virus na ito at tumaas ang bilang ng positive (cases), balik po tayo sa Enhanced Community Quarantine. Wala po tayong choice kasi kailangang pangalagaan ang nakakarami, ” Parena emphasized.
He also said that individuals who violated the community quarantine policies could face the consequences of their actions. (LTP/LML-PIA6 Antique)
