AFP directs personnel to keep off EDSA bus lanes

PASIG CITY, July 4 (PIA) – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) directed its personnel to avoid using bus lanes along EDSA.

On Thursday, the AFP issued a directive advising all its commanders and chiefs of offices to keep off the EDSA bus lanes.

"Personnel who will be accosted, caught by traffic enforcers, or reported by concerned citizens for driving along the bus lanes in any part of EDSA must immediately be subjected to administrative disciplinary actions," the directive states.

According to the AFP, the directive also aims to assist government authorities to speed-up travel time and appropriately manage traffic along EDSA that provides access to different parts of Metro Manila.

Earlier, AFP Chief of Staff General Felimon Santos, Jr. reminded soldiers to treasure the trust of Filipinos and emphasized the importance of discipline in the military profession.

"The outstanding support that we are receiving from the people does not excuse our wrong behaviors, nor does our rank give us authority to violate laws and policies," Santos pointed. (AFP/PIA-NCR)
