PALO, Leyte, July 29 (PIA) -- As part of the government's response due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Public Works and Highways 8 (DPWH-8) has already completed three COVID-19 quarantine facility projects in Eastern Visayas.
As of July 27, 2020 status report released by DPWH-8, the three completed projects are the evacuation center in Brgy. Abucay Tacloban City, a multi-purpose building in Brgy. Songco, Borongan City and a DRRM headquarters in Calbayog City, Samar. All three were converted to COVID-19 quarantine facilities.
The evacuation center has an estimated amount of Php2,552,000 and has 21 beds while the multi- purpose building in Eastern Samar has a total of 29 bed capacity and with estimated amount of Php2 million.
The report also stated that it has already completed the installation of cubicles, ceiling joists, ceiling for the ward rooms, double wall as well as the construction of the comfort rooms for patients, comfort rooms for health workers, carpentry works on the nursing station area, electrical works and plumbing works.
The third quarantine facility project has a total amount of Php3.5-M with 32 bed capacity.
The completion rate of 16 COVID-19 quarantine facilities located in various provinces in the region is now at 76.67 percent.
The government has allotted Php139, 220,000 for 16 quarantine facility projects with 801 beds.
All projects are expected to be completed by August 30, 2020. (ldl/cba/PIA8)
