DTI-10 beefs up livelihood assistance for IPs in Talakag town

TALAKAG, Bukidnon, July 3 (PIA) -- In consonance with President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s Executive Order (EO 70), which institutionalizes a whole-of-nation approach in attaining inclusive and sustainable peace in the country, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – 10 has extended livelihood assistance for the Indigenous People (IP) community during the regional launching of the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood, and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) in Sitio Kibulag, Barangay Lantud here on Wednesday, July.

“We are currently offering our “Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa” (PBG), which is a livelihood assistance for our small and micro enterprises here in Sitio Kibulag. So, the starter-kits we are giving out today are based on the needs that we have gathered during the need assessment held last June 9,” DTI-Bukidnon Business Counselor Melanie Joy S. Legara said.

The DTI has distributed 20 knapsack sprayers  to the IPs in the area whose primary livelihood is farming. Legara believed the knapsack sprayers would greatly benefit the farmer-residents to complement the DA's programs for the IPs in the area.

“We will also conduct follow-up seminars for the farmers on 'Entrepreneurial Mind Setting.' And another batches of starter kits are coming next month and the following months of this year," she maintained.

Legara further emphasized the importance and longevity of DTI-10’s commitment to ending local communist armed conflict in the area through the poverty alleviation. (VPSB)
