‘Hatid Tulong’ brings home 77 Capiceños

ROXAS CITY, Capiz, July 30 (PIA) – Seventy – seven locally stranded Capiceños in Metro Manila arrived at the quarantine facilities of their respective localities, July 28, through the “Hatid Tulong” initiative of the national government in close coordination with the concerned local government units.

“These LSIs were transferred to the identified quarantine facilities of their LGUs to undergo the mandatory 14-days quarantine in accordance with the health protocols set by Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19,” said Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) head Judy Grace Pelaez.

PDRRMO records showed that these LSIs were from the municipalities of Tapaz, 16; Pres. Roxas, 12; Pilar, 8; Dumarao, 7; Panitan, 7; Pontevedra, 6; Dumalag, 5; Maayon, 5; Dao, 5; and Cuartero, 2.

Four city residents were also among those who arrived in the province through the Hatid Tulong voyage via MV St. Michael The Archangel of 2GO Shipping Lines that left Manila July 27 and arrived at Fort San Pedro in Iloilo City at noon of the following day.

The trip has brought home more than 900 LSIs who are residents of Western Visayas.

They have undergone health screening before they board the ship and decontamination procedures upon disembarkation at the port.

Pelaez noted that they will also undergo swab test to ensure that the LSIs are free from COVID-19 infection when they are reunited with their families after the quarantine procedures.

The provincial government through the PPDRRMO, Capiz Emergency Response Team and Capiz Police Provincial Office assisted the LSIs back to their respective LGUs from the Iloilo port. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz)
