ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat, July 29 (PIA) – Maguindanao Governor Bai Mariam S. Mangudadatu opened on Monday the third COVID-19 isolation facility in the province that she said, is intended to initially accommodate at least around 200 locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs).
The lady governor said, “due to the increasing number of LSIs and ROFs coming back home from Metro Manila and other areas, we managed to finish refurbishing this facility in just few days to accommodate them all.”
This quarantine facility stands in the abandoned old provincial capitol building in Shariff Aguak which Mangudadatu ordered to be converted into a COVID-19 isolation facility, in consultation with the engineering office, PDRRMO and officials of the Maguindanao Provincial Hospital.
Mangudadatu said the isolation facility has separate rooms for men and women, but there are rooms for husband and wife and for a family. It has also a TV viewing area and a playground within the premises.
“Once the renovation work is completed, the Shariff Aguak isolation facility can accommodate around 400 beds," the governor said.
The province’s first isolation facility is situated at the Maguindanao Provincial Hospital in Datu Hoffer town, while the second one is the unused Maguindanao jail converted into a quarantine facility.
Mangudadatu also said that it is high time that the provincial government should give priority to the needs of more ROFs who are coming home because their remittances in the past have helped pumped up the economy of the province. (Aida C. Agad/PIA 12)
