CALOOCAN CITY, Aug. 1 (PIA) -- The Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) is set to submit to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte by Monday next week its investigation into the alleged fund irregularities hounding the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhillHealth).
PACC Commissioner Greco Belgica announced this on Saturday during the Laging Handa public briefing powered by the Presidential Communications and affiliate media.
“Ito sigurong Lunes isusumite na namin ang report [to President Duterte]. Natapos namin kagabi so hinahanda na lang ang pagdala sa Pangulo,” Belgica said.
“Tapos na po ang basic report namin and ang mahalaga na lang sa imbestigasyon ay sino pa ang mga taong involved dito, and then recommendation to change the system,” he added.
He said the anti-corruption government body is more than ready to release to the public the results of its probe on the State health insurance firm if Duterte will order it.
“Definitely, doon ang unang pasok ng aming report sa ating Pangulo. After the President's instruction or announcements, doon natin ilalabas sa ating taumbayan,” he said.
Belgica said PhilHealth must provide data on its cash advances to prevent confusion among its members. PACC data show it received not lower than 4,000 cases regarding COVID-19.
He, however, noted that PACC’s report and recommendations on alleged anomalies are only partial and would still need further investigation
“Partial kasi it will be for further investigation, maasahan natin na dadagdag ang listahan at impormasyon na makikita natin,” he said.
“We've seen loopholes sa system kaya nagpe-perpetuate ang ganitong klaseng sistema, and we've identified officials na maaring masangkot dito, positions na vulnerable to this kinds of corruption,” he added.
“Pinuna rin namin ang mga misdoings ng mga opisyal na dapat ay ginagawa subalit hindi nagawa,” he furthered.
Belgica did not give any more details and said he doesn’t want to preempt the investigation and decision of the President regarding the probe.
To recall, the PACC initiated an investigation on PhilHealth in May in the wake of allegations overpricing of COVID tests kits.
Also under investigation were the reported questionable liquidations within its PhilHealth executives.
Last week, the President ordered an investigation into alleged anomalies in PhilHealth after an employee resigned due to supposed widespread corruption in the company.
PhilHealth president Ricardo Morales, for his part, claimed that the employee who resigned was only vengeful after he was unable to get his desired post. (PIA NCR)
