CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, Aug. 18 (PIA) - The Provincial Veterinary Office here confirmed cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) in four different towns after samples tested positive for the deadly hog virus.
Provincial Veterinary Officer Dr. Angelo Naui said their office is now implementing measures in Quezon, Roxas, Aurora and Luna towns where ASF is recorded.
Naui said the cases of ASF in the said towns are controllable and cooperation among local officials and hog raisers is needed to prevent the spread of ASF in other areas of Isabela especially nearby towns.
The veterinary official has advised hog raisers to strictly enforce biosecurity measures and disinfection in the farm yards to prevent the accumulation of ASF disease.
“We closely monitor cases of ASF case in the province and immediate actions are conducted to prevent the spread of the disease in other towns of Isabela,” Naui said.
He said there were already 432 pigs that have undergone blood sampling and culled as a measure in the detection and prevention of outbreak of the disease.
In case of any reported hog death, the public is advised to report immediately to the local government in order to take immediate action.
For its part, the Department of Agriculture here is closely monitoring the recurrence of the ASF disease in the province and is already implementing strict measures to curb its spread such as the reactivation of ASF checkpoints. (MDCT/MGE/PIA 2-Isabela)
