CSC to virtually kick off 120th anniversary on Sept. 1

PASIG CITY, Aug. 31 (PIA) -- Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) on Tuesday, Sept. 1, will hold a virtual media briefing to kick off the month-long 120th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) celebration.

CSC Public Assistance and Information Office Director IV Maria Luisa Salonga-Agamata told the PIA-NCR that aside from promoting the PCSA activities, the media briefing will showcase the current technological initiatives of government agencies to cope with the challenges and effects of the COVID-19 public health emergency.

Agamata said the PCSA has been considered as a special occasion to "highlight the critical role and celebrate the contributions of government workers in nation-building."

"It is also a time for public servants to reaffirm their commitment to perform their duties and responsibilities with utmost efficiency, responsiveness, integrity, and courtesy," she added.

For many years, the CSC has led all government agencies and its instrumentalities nationwide in marking the occasion. During the previous events however, the CSC conducted fun runs and other outdoor activities to kick off the PCSA, which drew in thousands of civil servants and their families.

The theme for this year is "Philippine Civil Service @120: Public Sector in the Age of Digital Transformation," underscoring the use of emerging technologies in the pursuit of efficient public service delivery in the Philippine government, especially in the context of emergency situations.

The CSC panelists will be composed of CSC Chairperson Alicia dela Rosa-Bala, Commissioner Aileen Lourdes A. Lizada, as well as officials from various government agencies as guest panelists to enrich the discussion.

Likewise, the event seeks to highlight that the government is responding to the call to be united in upholding integrity and sustaining the public’s trust amid the challenges.

The event will be broadcast live on the CSC Facebook Page and through the PIA’s social media channels nationwide. (PIA NCR)
