BUTUAN CITY, August 7(PIA) -- The Dinagat Islands Alliance for Development (DIAD) is now enforcing intensified environmental laws in the province of Dinagat Islands, in partnership with the local government units (LGUs) and partner agencies.
A joint meeting was conducted among municipal heads and agricultural officers of LGUs, the technical working group comprised of the line agencies such as the Department of Environmental and National Resources (DENR); Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR); Philippine National Police (PNP); and the Department of Agriculture (DA) was conducted on Wednesday, August 5, at the Provincial Governor’s Conference Hall, Capitol Compound, Brgy. Cuarinta in San Jose town.
The attendees of the said meeting discussed fishery and forest laws enforcement protocol, delineation of municipal waters and the proposed draft of the Unified Fishery Ordinance.
DIAD is a peace and order initiative of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) of the province which aims to sustain effective environmental governance through complementation of intervention to achieve a nurturing culture for meaningful people participation.
