Distribution of cash subsidies for 'waitlisted' SAP beneficiaries in EV ongoing

TACLOBAN CITY, August 12 (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Eastern Visayas (DSWD-8) continues its distribution of the P5,000 financial subsidy under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) to qualified waitlisted or left-out beneficiaries who were not included in the first tranche.

According to DSWD-8 Regional Director Marie Angela Gopalan, the distribution of the said financial assistance will continue regionwide, until all the 81,434 waitlisted beneficiaries from the 129 listed municipalities are able to avail of the government’s financial assistance.

“We will make sure that all the left-out or waitlisted beneficiaries can avail of the SAP financial assistance. They have just to wait for their schedule so as to ensure an orderly and accurate distribution,” Gopalan said. “All the qualified left-out beneficiaries can have their share,” she added.

With the above-mentioned number of Region 8 waitlisted beneficiaries, 38,420 of them are from the 35 Leyte municipalities.

As of August 10, 2020, some 45 municipalities in the region were already done with the pay-out. Out of this number, six (6) are Leyte towns, benefiting some 907 waitlisted families, with a total distributed amount of P4,535,000.

Other Leyte areas included in the list are still waiting for their turn, as scheduled by DSWD in the next few days.

The Social Amelioration Program or SAP is a cash emergency subsidy program of the government implemented sometime in April, this year. This is intended for Filipino families whose lives were affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine due to the Covid-19 pandemic. (LDL/GTT/PIA-Leyte)
