TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Aug. 15 (PIA) - - The Department of Health (DOH) region 2 has urged Local Government Unit (LGU) officials to ensure that all Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs) and Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) will stay in the quarantine facilities for 14 days regardless of their test results.
Regional Director Rio L. Magpantay said based from the observations of the surveillance teams in the ground, there are ROFs and LSIs, who tested negative based on their rapid anti-body tests, were sent home even if they haven't completed yet the required 14-day quarantine.
"They should finish the required number of days in the quarantine facility. Even if they are asymptomatic, they could possibly transmit virus to their family members and other individuals in their community. This is the reason why we are having local transmission already," Magpantay said.
He also said they continue to conduct inspections to all quarantine and isolation facilities and orient those manning the facilities on proper infectious disease prevention and control measures.
"The DOH is ready to give technical assistance so that the protocols and safety measures will always be practiced to avoid further transmissions in the quarantine facilities as we already have clustering of cases in the designated LGU quarantine facilities as well in some referral hospitals," Magpantay said.
With the increasing number of local transmission, Magpantay urged everyone to stay at home if there are no important things to do outside and always practice the minimum health standards.
He also reiterated that wearing of face masks, observance of physical distancing and disinfecting always when outside of residence are key responsibilities to avoid virus infection.
He also reminded establishments to help implement the protocols set by the government. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
