BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Aug. 15 (PIA) - Farmers associations and irrigators here recently received funding assistance from the provincial government to repair and improve their irrigation systems.
Governor Carlos Padilla said the P3.7 million check was given to the officers of the Limmansangan Irrigators Association (LIA) for the rehabilitation of the Limmansangan Communal Irrigation System at barangay Mabuslo in Bambang town.
He also awarded P1.6 million irrigation assistance to the Northwestern Bagabag Irrigators Association (NBIA) in Bagabag town and the BBSM Allauan Irrigators Associaton (BBSMAIA) in Dupax del Sur town.
The P1.6 million will be used by the NBIA for the construction of their irrigation system's CHB canal lining.
BBSMAIA also received its second tranche of irrigation assistance worth P.420 million for their canal lining project.
Earlier, Padilla also handed a P.367 million check to the Cupas Irrigators Association (CIA) for the improvement of the irrigation system's canal lining in barangay Calaocan in Bambang town.
"Our farmers are also considered as our food security frontliners because they continue to maximize our agricultural lands for food production and sustainability. They deserve our assistance to continue with their role as our backbone of food security," he said.
The funding assistance for various irrigators/farmers organizations in the province was given through Governor Padilla's grants and aids and the "Balikatan Sagip Patubig Program" (BSPP) of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and the provincial government.(MDCT/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
