Pasig City’s molecular diagnostic lab nears 100% operation

PASIG CITY, August 8 (PIA) -- Pasig City's  molecular diagnostic laboratory will soon be 100 percent operational to address the city’s backlogs in testing.

On his official Facebook page, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said, "With the nearing 100 percent operations of the city’s molecular diagnostic laboratory, it would address the city’s recent backlogs in testing of COVID-19."

The molecular diagnostic laboratory located at the Pasig City Children’s Hospital (PCCH), also serves as the city’s COVID-19 referral center and can provide enhanced chemiluminescence immunoassay testing (ECLIA) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testings. 

Mayor Vico said the machines at the molecular diagnostic laboratory can also be used to test other diseases, such as dengue, HIV, among others.

Meanwhile, the local chief executive added that the additional 200 contact tracers of the city have already started with their task at hand.

Likewise, retraining and re-orientation of personnel at the city’s Operations Center and Hotline 8643-0000 are also ongoing. (PIA-NCR)
