PRO 2 intensifies security measures amid lockdown of Tug. City PS

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Aug. 30 (PIA) - - -The Police Regional Office 2 in coordination with the Regional Task Force (RTF) and City Government of Tuguegarao has intensified its security measures amid lockdown of Tuguegarao City Police Station (TCPS) due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the said police station.

To temporarily replace the PNP personnel of Tuguegarao City Police Station (TCPS) who were tested positive for COVID-19, Regional Director PBGen. Crizaldo Nieves has ordered the deployment of 63 police officers in the said police station.

The personnel who were directed to augment are graduates of the Basic Internal Security Operations Course (BISOC) composed of 48 male and 15 female who are from Enrile, Solana, PeƱablanca and Iguig towns to include Tuguegarao City.

As they will be deployed in TCPS, they are expected to perform the respective tasks of the organic personnel of said police station.

Additional 74 senior PNCOs coming from different police stations of Cagayan will serve as an augmentation and team leaders of BISOC graduates.

For his part, Deputy Regional Director for Operations PCol Ronaldo Bayting said that the Regional Health Service 2 has already conducted orientation on the Basic Health Standard Protocols to BISOC personnel recently to ensure their safety and protection while performing their duties.

Bayting has also recommended to the regional director that after the augmentation period, the deployed BISOC graduates shall automatically be subjected to home quarantine for 20 days.

On the other hand, while TCPS chief PLtCol Jhonalyn Tecbobolan is on isolation, a police commission officer from Cagayan Police Provincial Office will be designated as interim COP.

Nieves assures the public that the PRO2 leadership will continuously provide all-out support to the new personnel of TCPS in all aspect so as not to hamper the operation of the said office.

All transactions are to be conducted at the Don Domingo Police Community Precinct temporarily.

Starting Aug. 27, Tuguegarao City was placed under the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) for 10 days until Sept. 5 due to an alarming increase in the number of confirmed cases in the city.

Nieves urged the public to cooperate and comply with the guidelines set forth by the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force to stop the spread of the COVID-19 in the region.

No to Fake News

The Police Regional Office 2 also clarified that the ‘entire force’ of the TCPS is not infected with virus contrary to what was published recently in one of the newspapers circulating nationwide.

In an additional statement, the PRO 2 said the ‘post’ is misleading as there were pulled out personnel of TCPS who were not tested positive for COVID-19.

The press release added that these pulled out personnel of TCPS are now on strict home quarantine. (MDCT/PIA-2)
