TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, Aug. 12 (PIA) – The Philippine Statistics Authority in Eastern Visayas (PSA-8) will be deploying some 4,832 enumerators all over the region starting September 1, 2020 to conduct the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (CPH).
The primary aim of the CPH is to provide government executives, policy and decision makers and planners with updated population and housing data as basis for social and economic development plans, policies and programs of the national and local governments.
During the Surusuwerte ha PIA Program on Tuesday hosted by PIA-8 Regional Director Erlinda Olivia P. Tiu, Regional Director Wilma A. Perante of the Philippine Statistics Authority 8 assured that all information provided by the respondents during the interview/survey will be held strictly confidential.
Director Perante is urging the public’s cooperation and truthfulness in providing information to the enumerators and assured that PSA personnel and enumerators who would visit each household will be properly equipped with face masks and other protective equipment.
“That is why we encourage everyone na ‘pag may pumunta na taga-Philippine Statistics Authority para mag-interview sa mga bahay-bahay ngayong September, bigyan ng panahon ang ating mga enumerators,” Perante said.
Perante said that gathering of the information will be done in various methods such as face-to-face interview following the strict health protocol; self-administered questionnaire wherein the interviewer will leave the questionnaire to the household and will be collected by PSA afterwards; through online (web-based) but on a limited scale called computer-aided interviewing (CAWI) technique; and through a telephone interview.
“Authorized interviewers/enumerators of PSA who are assigned to conduct surveys have identification cards equipped with face masks, face shields and questionnaires. If in doubt, households may ask from the enumerator the contact number of PSA office and may call to verify if the said enumerator is PSA-authorized,” Director Perante said.
Perante added that training for enumerators started as early as fourth week of July and will run until end of August this year.
As of August 1, 2015 CPH, Eastern Visayas population was recorded at 4,440,150.
This year’s Census of Population and Housing banners the theme, “Sama Na, Census Na.” (ldl/cba/PIA8)
