AGOO, La Union, Aug. 10 (PIA) – Even amidst the pandemic, youth and community engagement activities were lined up as the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Agoo is in one with the nation in this year’s celebration of Linggo ng Kabataan.
The Municipal Resolution 168, which was approved some time in 2018, also declared August 9 to 14 of every year as the celebration of Linggo ng Kabataan in the municipality of Agoo.
Far different from previous years’ celebration wherein educational campaigns, workshops, and team building activities were launched, online platforms will instead be utilized this year to stage the said event even amid the threats of pandemic.
In this week-long celebration, online activities exclusively intended for Agoo youth will be conducted such as essay writing, photography, and poster-making contests, and the famous TikTok challenge.
Cash prizes and certificates await the winners.
As the highlight, a program dubbed “Ulat ng Sanggunian Kabataan” wherein SK federation officials will be presenting virtually the youth council’s accomplishments is scheduled on the fourth day.
While a webinar, in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency-La Union Information Center, will be hosted on the fifth day to tackle the responsible use of social media and dismissing disinformation which will be available for all interested participants.
The chain of events will end with the inauguration of the newly-renovated Agoo Youth Development Office on Friday.
Meanwhile, a malunggay tree planting activity was simultaneously held in the town’s 49 barangays as the celebration officially kicks off on Sunday.
Some 1,571 trees were put in by various SK councils and members in the villages. (JCR/AMB/CGRC/PIA La Union)
