CALOOCAN CITY, Sept. 13 (PIA) -- Social Welfare Undersecretary Rene Glen Paje DSWD underscored the coordination and collaboration of the City Government of San Juan with its partners and with the national government as one of its best practices in combating the effects of COVID-19 pandemic.

Other member of the team were Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Gerardo Bayugo, Department of Social Welfare, Special Adviser to NTF COVID-19 Dr. Teodoro Herbosa, DOH-NCR Regional Director Dr. Corazon Flores, and Robin Lim of DILG Central Office Disaster Information Coordinating Center (CODIX).

City Health Officer Dr. Rosalie Sto. Domingo presented the LGU situationer, the city’s Protect, Detect, Isolate, Treat, and Reintegrate (PDITR) strategies, its good practices, and challenges in the fight against COVID-19.

Bayugo lauded the city’s efforts saying that its efforts can be a model that can be shared with other LGUs, noting its efforts to build the capacity of its health system, expanding its hospitals and other facilities, and also establishing a system of tracking down cases and contact tracing.

Moreover, Lim shared DILG’s Operation Listo protocols for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (MEID) – a guide for Local Chief Executives and Local COVID-19 Task Force.

Similar to the Operation Listo protocols created by the DILG for preparation, response, and recovery for weather disturbances, the Operation Listo for MEID protocol provides a set of actions the Local Task Force should undertake to control the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

Another highlight of the activity was the oath-taking of the Barangay Disiplina Brigade led by Zamora. The pledge of commitment was participated by the Punong Barangays represented by its Liga ng Mga Barangay President Councilor Herbert Chua and Urban Poor Affairs Office Chief Jeboy Pendoza representing the 28 partner organizations of the LGU in its COVID-19 awareness and prevention campaign program “TAGUYOD”.

Barangay Disiplina Brigades is an integral part of the BIDA ang May Disiplina: Solusyon sa COVID-19 initiative that integrates the efforts of the DILG and DOH to improve community engagement in responding to the current pandemic through discipline, vigilance, and adherence to health protocols.

Mayor Francis Zamora expressed gratitude for the CODE Team visit, saying that the national government’s support and assistance truly makes a difference for the City Government of San Juan.

“Hindi talaga namin kakayanin ‘to na kami lang. We need all the help we can get from the national government; and indeed, we’ve felt all the help from all of our partners,” Zamora noted, expressing his appreciation to the partners of the city. (PIA-NCR)
