DTI-10 launches 'E-comics Making Contest' 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Sept. 30 - Calling all aspiring college artists! Show your artistic skills and get a chance to win P30 thousand as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) launches the E-Comics Making Contest.

The competition is open to all students from public or private schools, colleges, or universities in Northern Mindanao to create a comic book through the use of digital technology and raise awareness on consumer programs and address consumer-related issues and concerns.

Each contestant shall complete the contest form and attach a valid college ID and/or any proof of current or last semester’s enrollment to the DTI Provincial Office in his/her area or send through email.

The storyline should be in Filipino, English, or combination of both (Taglish) and must illustrate any one topic for the official entry:  Consumer Rights and Responsibilities, Sustainable Consumption, eCommerce, Consumer in the New Normal, or Deceptive Sales Act/Practices.

Graphics used should be original, licensed, or in the public domain. The finished entry should be in tiff, jpeg, RGB, vertical A4 (210x297mm) – 300 DPI and should follow the file name format: Comics Title Page Number.jpeg

Entries should have a minimum of five pages, inclusive of the front comic title page, and a minimum of four frames per page except the comic title page.

Each comic book entry should have a maximum of three participants only. The entry should not have been exhibited as part of any comics competition or in any other current competition.

Top three winners of each province will be chosen to compete in the regional DTI E-Comics Making Contest for a chance to win P10,000.00. The winning entry will then compete in the national level for a chance to win P30,000.00 worth of gift checks.

Deadline for submission to the provincial offices is on October 9. Judging will be on October 14, while judging in the regional level will be on October 19. Further, judging of e-comics finalists in the national level will be on October 28 with winners to be announced on October 31.

The E-Comics Making Contest is one of the major activities in celebration of the Consumer Welfare Month (CWM) on October of this year. The month-long celebration aims to enhance consumer awareness by disseminating relevant information to both public and private sectors on the policies and programs that promote consumer welfare.
