LCC invites public to join this webinar on September 8, on Tuesday (September 8) from 8:30 to 11:45AM (PST) with international panel of experts to talk about literacy in the new normal.

QUEZON CITY, Sept. 5 (PIA) —  The Literacy Coordinating Council, together with the International Cooperation Office, invites the public to join a webinar in celebration of the International Literacy Day on Tuesday (September 8) from 8:30 to 11:45AM (PST).

First held in 1966, each year September 8thmarks the UNESCO’s International Literacy day, raising awareness globally on the issues surrounding adult and child literacy.

This year’s celebration dubbed the “Literacy teaching and learning in the COVID-19 crisis and beyond” will be the webinar topic with speakers from different countries to discuss the role of educators and changing pedagogies.

The webinar will also highlight how governments are bridging the gap between policy discourse and reality that was even more widened by the COVID-19 pandemic, affecting the learning of youth and adults who have no or low literacy skills to begin with.

Meanwhile, the Literacy Coordinating Council (LCC) also celebrates the National Literacy Week every September 2 to 8 pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 239, s. 1993, making this webinar a culminating activity as well.

Interested parties may register at http://tiny.cc/2020ILD to join the webinar via Zoom, or catch the livestream on Deped Philippines Facebook page. (MTQ/PIA-IDPD)
