PSA 11 all set to conduct census gathering in region

DAVAO CITY, Sept. 1 (PIA) – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA XI) is currently prepared for undertaking the census gathering in Region XI that is to be conducted for the whole month of September through training staff and on-the-ground personnel to effectively cover the designated populations of each respective province in the region.

This is after the PSA XI has successfully conducted a pilot testing of the national census in Region XI last 2018 which pre-determined the needed manpower and resources for all the localities in the Davao Region. And due to the conducted pilot testing, the PSA XI has now hired a total of 185 Census Area Supervisors, 1,144 Team Supervisors, and 5,792 Enumerators to provide ample manpower in conducting the census gathering.

The Officer-In-Charge for the PSA XI Pepito Amoyen is confident that the Davao Region is prepared for the conduct of census gathering in all the provinces of the Davao Region due to the conducted necessary training of on-the-ground personnel that was undertaken by PSA XI.

“We have four levels of training: one is the task force training then those trained under the task force will train the regional personnel and in turn, the trained regional personnel will train personnel on the provincial [level] and the last batch for training is the fourth level where or the training of our enumerators,” Amoyen said.

The PSA highlights under the said training process of personnel the importance of properly collecting data on the field. This is to ensure the accurate and proper management of data by personnel tasked to conduct the data gathering in communities throughout the region.

“The method that we use in the crafting of questions when conducting the census gathering is based on a specific time and date – this will ensure the proper framing of the data under a given date and time,” Amoyen discussed.

The last batch of enumerators was trained last August 29 and as of today, the PSA XI has already started conducting the enumeration of data which will last till the end of September since there are areas in the region that are large in scope and requires extended periods in time when it comes to data gathering.
