Southern Leyte village placed under varying containment zones

MAASIN CITY, September 10 (PIA) -- Acting Municipal Mayor Jose Ramil Golo of Sogod, Southern Leyte, placed Barangay Zone I in his municipality under varying containment zones and declared such areas with varying community quarantine status from September 5 until September 12, 2020 through Executive Order No. 38, series of 2020.

This after the Eastern Visayas Regional COVID-19 Testing Center released positive results of RT-PCR tests last September 4, 2020 in which one new case is from Maasin City but working in Metrobank, Sogod Branch in Southern Leyte.

Golo ordered to place Barangay Zone 1 under varying Containment Zones (CZ) with corresponding community quaratine.

Rosalejos Apartment, the household where the mentioned patient stayed while in Sogod, is considered a critical zone and declared under Enhanced Community Quarantine. Said household is subject to 24-hours extreme restriction of movement upon members of the said household except for emergency instances such as medical and surgical treatments.

The Executive Order further provided that barangay and municipal task forces shall ensure that all individuals under the said household are provided with or have access to essential goods and basic services including but not limited to food, water, health care for the whole duration of ECQ.

Signages shall be placed to signify the boundary of said Critical Zone, it was learned.

Households within the 500-meter radius from the Critical Zone is considered as containment zone and placed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ). Movement within the containment zone are allowed but limited to movement of individuals accessing essential goods and services and those working in permitted offices, establishments, the EO further stated.

The EO also stated that senior citizens, children and individuals with co-morbidities and other vulnerable groups will be restricted from movement while delivery of goods shall be conducted at the points of entry only. Barangay officials were ordered to ensure that essential goods are picked up at points of entry.

Signages shall also be placed to signify the boundary of said Containment Zone.

Households within the 500-meter radius from the declared Containment Zone household are under the Buffer Zone and placed under General Community Quarantine (GCQ).

People’s movement between Buffer Zone and Outside Buffer Zone shall be allowed and shall observe minimum health standards.

The operation of government offices and industries are allowed up to full capacity while the transportation services shall be at reduced capacity, the EO further provided.

Meanwhile, the rest of the areas in said barangay is under the Outside Buffer Zone and placed under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ).

The local task force was ordered to establish screening procedures at vital points of entry and strict implementation of minimum health standards. Movement within Outside Buffer Zone shall be allowed, however, entry to CZ is strictly prohibited except for emergency purposes, it was learned.

Acting Mayor Golo further said that violators of the said Executive Order may be penalized for violation of R.A. 11332 for Simple Disobedience to a Person in Authority or other existing laws that is against the State of Health Crisis of President Rodrigo Roas Duterte. (ldl/esg/PIA SoLeyte)
