PASIG CITY, Sept. 27 (PIA) -- The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through its TB Platforms for Sustainable Detection, Care and Treatment Project, implemented by University Research Co. (URC) LLC, has partnered with Radyo Pilipinas to raise public awareness on TB education and encourage local chief executives to strengthen their TB response amid COVID-19.

Since the start of the community quarantine in March, the USAID’s TB Platforms technical staff, along with its partner local government units led by the municipal/city mayors and governors, and with TB doctors and nurse coordinators have served as resource persons for various radio programs produced by Radyo Pilipinas in Batangas, Lucena, Manila, Central Luzon and Marawi City.

USAID continues to provide technical assistance to the Department of Health’s National Tuberculosis Control Program (NTP) as the project team collaborates with the regional centers for health development in Central Luzon (Region 3), Calabarzon, (Region 4-A), National Capital Region (NCR) which are highly burdened of TB.

USAID hopes that this project will raise public awareness on TB symptoms, how and where to access TB services in communities and reduce the stigma of the disease.

To recall, the Radyo Pilipinas also expressed support to the USAID and DOH NTP’s TB education campaign, and hopes to reach as many Filipinos via its radio broadcast and Facebook live streaming. (PIA-NCR)
