CALOOCAN CITY, Oct. 27 (PIA) -- The second leg of a “Bayanihan” townhall meeting will address employment and livelihood challenges for thousands of residents in urban areas across Metro Manila amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
In Session 2 of the Dagyaw 2020: Open Government and Participatory Governance Virtual Townhall Meeting happening on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 1:00 p.m., government inter-agency in partnership with non-government sectors will respond to the demands of the labor sector, displaced local and overseas workers, and public utility vehicles (PUVs) and jeepney drivers who make up a significant portion of the National Capital Region (NCR) dwellers.
Dubbed, “Bayanihan para sa Hanapbuhay at Kapakanan ng Manggagawa” the transparent and participatory governance approach aims to provide an avenue for citizens to ask questions on topics with direct impact to their lives, particularly on labor and employment, anchored in the objective of the National Task Force Against Covid-19 Sub-Task Group on Governance ensuring people-oriented, clean, technology-enabled, and responsive governance in addressing COVID-19 and to restart social and economic activities.
Officials from NCR offices of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Department of Transportation-Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (DOTr-LTFRB) will be looking for ways to respond adequately to the difficulties hounding the sector and members of the urban poor.

To recall, during its first session, the virtual town hall tackled the plight surrounding urban poor residents.
“Dagyaw” is a Hiligaynon term for “togetherness” which exemplifies the value of “Bayanihan.” Dagyaw fittingly describes the very nature and value proposition of Participatory Governance Cluster and the Open Governance Partnership, which is about bringing different stakeholders together.
The conduct of this series of events is spearheaded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), and supported by the Office of the President (OP); Office of the Cabinet Secretary (OCS) and various national government agencies.
