44 valley cops are still active of COVID-19

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Oct. 28 (PIA) - - The Philippine National Police (PNP) region 2 has already recorded 85 police officers infected of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in which 44 are still active cases while 41 have already recovered from the virus as of Oct. 27.

Police Brigadier General Edgar Cacayan, deputy regional director for administration, said aside from the uniformed personnel, there were also five non-uniformed personnel who were infected of the virus in which four are active cases while the other one had already recovered.

The regional command also recorded 35 persons under police custody who tested positive for COVID-19 but all of them have already recovered.

"As of October 26, of the 125 cases of COVID-19 we recorded which include the uniformed, non-uniformed and the persons under police custody, there were already 77 recoveries while 48 are still active," Cacayan said.

He said the different police units have their respective isolation facilities where the active cases are confined since all of them are asymptomatic.

On the other hand, since the month of May 2020, PNP region 2 has monitored 30, 433 inbound Locally Stranded Individuals (LSI) and Returning Overseas Filipino (OFWs).

There were 1,197 individuals who were denied entry in the region since March because of failure to acquire travel authority and other pertinent documents that are required to enter Cagayan Valley region.

As to the issuance of travel authority documents to the LSIs, ROFs and those with emergency travels, Cacayan said they have already issued 57, 207 in which 56, 255 were outbound LSIs and 952 were outbound overseas filipinos. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
