Antique gets 3 more fire trucks from BFP

SAN JOSE, Antique, Oct. 24 (PIA) - - The Province of Antique recently received three more fire trucks from the Bureau of Fire Protection as part of its continuing modernization program.

BFP Regional Director SSupt Jerry D. Candido led the turn-over ceremony and commissioning of the newly acquired fire trucks in San Jose, Antique.

Information Officer FO3 Vilmarie M. Pagunsan, in a press release, said that the two newly acquired firetrucks are intended for the towns of Pandan and Libertad.

The acquisition of the firetrucks is in partnership with the Office of Deputy Speaker and Antique’s Lone District Representative Loren Legarda, who aside from the trucks, has supported the establishment of the quarters for Emergency Management Services in San Jose town.

BFP also thanked San Jose mayor Elmer Untaran for the provision of building and space  and  other needs of the said EMS facility in his municipality.

It can be recalled that on October 15, the BFP issued 84 firetrucks to different provinces nationwide in a ceremony at Camp Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo Quezon City.

In a virtual ceremony, Untaran, together with Libertad mayor Mary Jean N. Te and Pandan mayor Plaridel Sanchez VI, received their vehicles. They were joined by their respective Municipal Fire Marshals.

 Antique now has 22 fire trucks with 15 fire stations. Six of the fire trucks are assigned to the municipality of San Jose as the capital town of the province and three are in the town of Sibalom, the municipality with huge population and number of barangays.

BFP has also turned over one vehicle to San Jose Fire Station to be used for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) of the town and neighboring municipalities.

The BFP EMS also augments in other activities such as fire drills/ lectures, firefighting, emergency response to accidents and other emergency calls.

Provincial Fire Marshal F/Supt Randy Pudadera enjoined Antiqueños to actively participate in the undertakings of their local fire stations especially in matters of fire prevention and public safety. (JBG/PSM/PIA-Antique/BFP)
