ILOILO CITY, Oct. 15 (PIA) - - The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) on Monday, October 14, raised the Philippine flag on the site of its new headquarters in Passi City.
Police Regional Office 6 Director Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan was joined by Passi City mayor Stephen Palmares during the ceremony which was followed by the groundbreaking for the new IPPO headquarters.
The city government of Passi donated the two-hectare lot in Brgy. Sablogon.
IPPO Director Colonel Gilbert Gorero, in a press report of the agency, said the transfer of the IPPO Headquarters is also in compliance with the program of PNP Chief General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan on the decongestion of PNP camps.
He said the area where the IPPO Headquarters stands at present in Brgy. San Sebastian, Santa Barbara, Iloilo has no room for the construction of additional facilities and offices and the lot donation of Passi City was so timely that PRO6 considered the relocation.
“Being at the center of Iloilo, the new site is more accessible to the Ilonggos and other police units in the province,” said Gorero in the IPPO report.
Palmares expressed his gratitude to the PNP in welcoming the support of the city for the new site of the IPPO Headquarters. He also acknowledged the positive impact of this development to the city.
On the other hand, Pamuspusan revealed that the PNP intends to expedite the realization of the project to give the Iloilo cops better office buildings and other facilities.
He also said the PNP chief will surely appreciate the project as putting premium on the welfare of PNP personnel is among his top agenda.
Cascolan is set to visit Police Regional Office 6 on October 15 for the inauguration of various projects in Camp Delgado. This is his first visit to Region 6 after he was designated as the Chief of the PNP.
While he was born and raised in Cordillera, Cascolan is proud to have an Ilonggo heart having married an Ilongga. He also spent several years of his police service in Region 6 where he served as the Deputy Regional Director for Administration in 2016. (IPPO/JSC/laf/PIA6 Iloilo)
