MARAWI CITY, Oct. 2 (PIA) - The city government of Marawi has rolled out electric tricycles (e-trikes) for commuters as public transportation in the city is suspended this October due to the extension of modified enhanced community quarantine in Lanao del Sur.
City Mayor Majul Gandamra issued Executive Order (EO) No. 2020-042 implementing new curfew hours and adopting the additional guidelines set by the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the extended MECQ.
Under the EO, Gandamra has authorized the deployment of e-trikes and designated PUVs "to cater to the needs of the riding public for essential movements." The city government will issue a Certificate of Operation for the designated vehicles.
The city government also imposed curfew hours from 6:00 pm to 4:30 am except for authorized persons outside residence (APOR) or those individuals who need immediate medical attention or intervention.
The stricter measures were implemented following the surge of the COVID-19 cases in the city despite the MECQ in September.
Data from the Provincial IATF showed that the province of Lanao del Sur has logged a total of 697 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of September 30 of which 354 are from Marawi City. Moreover, 111 of the 153 active cases are from the city. (APB/PIA-ICIC)
