LGU-San Ricardo receives COVID Ligtas Centers from DSWD-8

SOUTHERN LEYTE, Oct. 21 (PIA) -- The local government unit of San Ricardo, this province, received a total of 15 COVID Ligtas Centers from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Regional Office 8 (DSWD-8) in a turn over ceremony held recently.

The 15 installed quarantine facilities were realized through the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan -Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program of the social welfare department.

These COVID Ligtas Centers identified by the community residents amounted to P4 million, it was learned.

The said facilities have a total capacity of 84 rooms and were constructed to serve the locally stranded individuals (LSIs) of the said LGU.

According to the report from San Ricardo LGU through their Facebook page, the COVID facilities have already accommodated 34 LSIs as of the present.

San Ricardo Mayor Roy Salinas expressed his appreciation towards the support given by the DSWD's Kalahi-CIDSS program and pledged to continue to be the agency’s partner in delivering compassionate services to its constituents, as quoted from the LGU’s page.

DSWD Deputy Regional Program Manager Engr. Gerardo PeƱeda attended the turn-over ceremony.  He extended his gratitude for the bayanihan spirit shown by the barangay residents covered by the project and to the community volunteers for making the project successful. (ldl/rgc/PIA-Southern Leyte)
