Mt. Province officials reiterate practice of minimum health protocols

BONTOC, Mountain Province, Oct. 4(PIA)--The public is reminded anew  to observe or  practice the minimum health protocols  as the province  recorded seven COVID-19 cases in a span of two  days after without new case  for almost a month.

On Friday (Oct. 2), the province recorded its 17th COVID-19 case, a 34-year old female frontliner from Bauko municipality.

On Saturday, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported six new cases- an 81 year old woman from Sabangan, the first COVID-19 case for the municipality, and five from Paracelis. This now brings to eight the number of COVID cases in the municipality of Paracelis and a total of 23 for the whole province.

To help prevent the spread of disease, Sabangan Mayor Marcial Lawilao Jr.  ordered the total lockdown of barangays Poblacion and Losad effective immediately until further notice for contract tracing. All activities and gatherings including church activities are suspended. The patient has no travel history to areas with COVID cases.

Paracelis Mayor Marcos Ayangwa also imposed total lockdown in Brgy. Poblacion starting 6:00am today for contact tracing.  Two of the cases are from Poblacion and are on home quarantine. The other cases are from Butigue, Palitod and Anonat.

Ayangwa  asked  his  constituents  to do their  share in controlling the spread of Covid 19  by  observing and  practicing the 3W's-  Wear your face masks/shields, Wash your hands often, and Watch your distance.

Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr., meanwhile, reiterated the appeal for everyone to cooperate and practice   minimum health protocols.

"Again, we remind everyone of our social and moral responsibility - keeping others safe by safeguarding ourselves from the dreaded disease through our strict adherence to the prescribed COVID-19 preventive measures. Let us all remain vigilant and observe the minimum health protocols. As the national government keeps on saying, there is still no approved vaccine and cure to the disease. Thus, our constant appeal,” Lacwasan said. (PIA Mt. Province)
