Pantaleon -Estrella bridge replacement project, on track for 2021 opening-DPWH

CALOOCAN CITY, Oct. 23 (PIA) -- Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar assured the completion of the Pantaleon-Estrella bridge on 2021, as he inspected the progress of the ongoing project on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.

Villar said, the Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge Replacement Project is being implemented to ease traffic between Estrella Street in Makati City and Barangka Drive in Mandaluyong City.

"Although temporarily-suspended for two (2) months due to COVID-19, we are now seeing significant progress of this ongoing iconic bridge project,” Villar said during the inspection.

According to Villar, the Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge Project is part of the Metro Manila Logistics Improvement Program to ease traffic along EDSA.

The 506 meter Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge connecting Estrella, Makati City to Barangka Drive is a future world class bridge financed by a grant by from the Peoples Republic of China.

Once completed, the bridge will have four (4) lanes from the previous two (2) lanes and will soon accommodate an average or 50,000 vehicles per day.

The construction of a new Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge is being implemented by the DPWH UPMO - Roads Management Cluster 1.

"This bridge is one of the many projects that are part of our master plan to decongest EDSA," Villar said. (DPWH/PIA-NCR)
