Baguio City, partners launch digital innovations for the new normal

BAGUIO CITY, Nov. 12 (PIA) - - Towards its goal of making this mountain resort as the first Smart City in the country, the city government of Baguio thru the leadership of Mayor Benjamin Magalong and its private partners launched two digital innovations that will not only improve the delivery of service to the people but will help in responding to the challenges of the Coronavirus disease pandemic.

First to be launched is the Baguio in My Pocket (BIMP) which is in partnership with the Information Technology Business Solutions (ITBS). This is a collection of applications that aims to promote an e-government ecosystem of hands-free transactions, citizen data management, contact tracing and other essential services for the people of Baguio City.

BIMP include features like digitalized barangay inhabitants’ registration records with a “Know Your Citizen” module,  citizen patrol apps,  and business portal that will offer online marketplace, e – wallet, cashless transaction and e – government transactions, among others.

The other innovation is the Transportation Pre-Alert Support System (TPASS) that will allow registration, pre – alert and monitoring of the movement of goods through a certain locality. It will allow law enforcers to screen cargo movers, drivers and other delivery personnel before arrival at checkpoints.

TPASS will ease the flow of goods from origin to destination through various checkpoints with the use of technology, and will help produce data on movement of goods for use in planning, as well as data analysis on goods coming in and out of a certain local government unit  using the system.

The city has partnered with the Dynamic Outsource Solution 1 for the TPASS.

Affirming their commitment to the partnership, ITBS Chief Executive Officer John Paul Miranda and President and CEO Gary Cayton. The attended the launching through a simple program at the Baguio City Hall on Monday (Nov. 9).

Magalong expressed gratitude to all of their private partners in pushing for technological innovations that are responsive to the challenges of the new normal.

The mayor said that with the BIMP and TPASS along with other digital innovation projects of the city government, their goal for Baguio to become a Smart City is slowly becoming a reality. With digital governance and more efficient and effective services for the people, we will have a better Baguio. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
