Cagayan 3rd solon bares multi-billion worth of infra projects

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Nov. 9 (PIA) - - Representative Joseph "Jojo" Lara of the Third District of this province has reported his major accomplishments covering his first year of public service during his State of the District Address.

In his virtual public address, Lara highlighted the implemented infrastructure projects as his major accomplishments which according to him is a fulfillment of his promises during the campaign period.

One of his projects was the establishment of an annex campus of the Cagayan State University at barangay Iraga in Solana town catering to students from the western part of the province.

"The two-hectare lot where the campus was established was from our own pocket as my family wants to help the students from that area. There was also a feasibility study before the establishment of that campus. I will also file a bill to make that a separate campus of the university," the representative said.

He also said there are major road and bridge projects in the different towns of the district that were already started. However, he said, due to the pandemic, majority of the infrastructure projects were temporarily suspended but the construction will resume soon.

He also said there are more projects to be built next year to include the construction of evacuation centers to be used also as quarantine facilities in all of the towns of the district and this city, a hospital in western Amulung, additional school buildings, flood control projects, drainage systems, bypass roads, and road concreting.

He also stated that a P1.2 billion worth of bridge project will soon rise in western Amulung.

"I really pursued this project because I saw students in the other side of the town who cross the river when they go to school. Accessibility has been an issue in the area that is why I want this to be realized soon," he added.

On his soft projects, Lara said there were almost 3,000 individuals who were benefited in his social services program in the hospitals to include dialysis patients as well as those who sought financial assistance to augment payment for their hospital bills.

There were also more than 10,000 beneficiaries of his social welfare fund through the Department of Social Welfare and Development, more than 600 individuals enrolled in the Governments Internship Program, and there were more than 7,000 benefited in the "Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers" (TUPAD) program through the Department of Labor and Employment.

Lara also called on his co-public servants to collaborate with him for the development and benefit of the people of the 3rd district of Cagayan. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
