CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Nov. 6 (PIA)--The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10 reported that about 81 percent of the local government units (LGUs) in the region have already complied with the Subaybayan ang Proyekto ng Bayan (SubayBAYAN).
"Sa SubayBAYAN, mareport, mamonitor, ug masubmit ang performance o dokumento sa locally-funded projects nga administered sa DILG," DILG-10 Regional Director Arnel Agabe said during the NorMin COVID-19 Response Task Force press conference, November 6.
(Through the SubayBAYAN, performance or documents of locally-funded projects administered by DILG will be reported, monitored, and submitted)
SubayBAYAN will enable the public to have firsthand documentation on the development of various project implementations in their respective LGUs, creating a check and balance environment, the regional director added.
Such also introduces a three-pronged strategy to combat corruption through education by improving awareness regarding corruption; prevention by reducing opportunities to do corrupt acts; and determent by raising the probability of catching the corrupt and rewarding good practices.
Aside from SubayBAYAN, Agabe said DILG also implements the Bantay Korapsyon program where DILG gathers information through fact-finding or calls the attention of the local chief executives.
"DILG-10 hired lawyers to investigate or conduct inquiries on possible corruption or anomalies involving local officials," he added.
SubayBAYAN, which can be accessed online through www.dilg.gov.ph, provides real time information on various projects' physical and financial status; information on actual location of projects thru map overlays and dashboard graphical representations; offers feedback mechanisms; and like and share information thru social media like Facebook.
