DOLE-7 releases P12.5-M under CAMP Bayanihan 2 for formal sector workers

CEBU CITY, Nov. 20 (PIA) -- As of Nov. 19, 2020, the Department of Labor and Employment Region 7 (DOLE-7) has disbursed a total of P12,550,00 under the COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) Bayanihan 2 of DOLE.

According to DOLE-7 Regional Director Salome Siaton, the amount disbursed benefited 2,500 workers from 231 establishments who received P5,000 financial aid each.

Siaton added that a portion of the funds was spent for the money remittance service charge that amounted to P50,000.

Around 713 workers from 41 establishments of the tri-cities of Cebu, Mandaue, and Lapulapu will receive collectively the financial assistance.

In Cebu province, 23 establishments benefited from the program covering 189 workers while in Bohol, 326 workers from 36 establishments received the aid.

In Negros Oriental, 1,119 workers from 103 establishments benefited from the CAMP, while 153 workers from 28 establishments in Siquijor received the financial assistance.

“The amount we have disbursed as well as the data we’ve released will change over the next couple of days or even each day as we continue evaluating CAMP applications in all of our field offices,” said Siaton.

She added that beneficiaries will just wait for a reference number that will be sent to them via text message by the DOLE’s CAMP service provider.

The Labor and Employment official clarified that some beneficiaries from the education sector have claimed their financial assistance as the DOLE-7 started disbursing CAMP funds on Nov. 3, 2020 in support to the commitment of DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello to the President that the release of the CAMP assistance should start by Nov. 15, 2020.

The CAMP-Bayanihan 2 is a one-time availment of P5,000 for the formal sector workers and applications must be done online through www.reports.dole.gov.ph.

Department Order No. 218, series of 2020 mandates the provision of financial assistance to affected workers or employees in the formal sector, regardless of status or type of employment, in the private establishments or those employed by any person acting directly or indirectly in the interest of an employer in relation to an employee, according to DOLE-7 Supervising Labor and Employment Officer Ma. Teresa Tanquiamco during the recent Dagyaw 2020 event in Cebu City.

Tanquiamco added that CAMP 2 shall be availed of by the following sectors: Private establishments, retrenched and temporary laid-off workers; Displaced workers in the education sector and displaced workers from the tourism sector.

CAMP 2 provides financial assistance of P5,000 per beneficiary and Employment Facilitation (Job) Assistance.

Under CAMP-Bayanihan 2, priority beneficiaries are the following:
Micro, small and medium establishments who applied for CAMP on or before 15 April 2020 but did not receive any financial assistance under BAYANIHAN 1;
Establishments that are not categorized as micro, small and medium establishments who applied for CAMP on or before 15 April 2020 but did not receive any financial assistance under BAYANIHAN 1;
Micro, small and medium establishments that will apply for the first time under BAYANIHAN 2 and
