MAASIN CITY, November 12 (PIA) - -The local vegetable farmers are more motivated to plant as the city government of Maasin has delivered to them dozens of farm machineries in response to their clamors.
Maasin City Mayor Nacional Mercado recently distributed several units of farm machinery such as small type of cultivator machinery, rice mills, rice reapers, and mud boats to different farm associations last November 10, 2020, at the facade of Maasin City Gymnasium
Among those machineries, the 12 units of multi-crop cultivators were perceived as user-friendly comfortably designed to home vegetable growers, according to the Office of City Agriculture Services (OCAS) Facebook post.
Such that female farmers can easily work with the mentioned small machinery in tilling their farms, it was learned.
OCAS earlier reported the distribution of thousands of various vegetable seeds acquired through the city coffers that were directly distributed to the barangays officials and ultimately down to the households.
The agriculture arm of the city government stepped-up its effort to strengthen the food security program of the city local government, the post further disclosed.
Thus, OCAS highly expects more vegetables to be produced in the locality with the timely assistance initiatives of the local chief executive after heeding the clamors of the small-time farmers. (esg/PIA8-SL)
