DUMAGUETE CITY, Nov. 25 (PIA) -- Negros Oriental’s record of active COVID-19 cases as of Nov. 24, 2020 is at 112 following the recovery of 40 individuals who earlier tested positive for the virus.
Negros Oriental Assistant Provincial Health Officer Dr. Liland Estacion announced this in a media interview at the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) yesterday afternoon.
Most of the individuals who recovered came from Guihulngan City with 25 recoveries.
Other local government units (LGUs) with reported COVID-19 recoveries yesterday include Amlan with one case, Ayungon with two cases, Bais City with one case, Bayawan City with one case, Canlaon City with one case, Dauin with one case, La Libertad with five cases, Mabinay with two cases, and Sibulan with one case.
Yesterday’s active cases showed a decrease from what was reported on Nov. 23 which was 154.
Estacion hopes that the decline in the number of active COVID-19 cases in the province will continue in the coming days.
Despite this improvement, the assistant provincial officer also disclosed that the province logged 23 additional COVID-19 cases with two mortalities as of yesterday.
Most of the latest cases of COVID-19 infections are in Dumaguete City with 11 cases including the two deaths.
Other LGUs with reported COVID-19 cases include Bayawan City with four cases, Dauin with one case, Mabinay with one case, Zamboanguita with one case, and Valencia with five cases.
Some of the new cases were exposed to a COVID-19 patient.
On the other hand, Estacion explained that the two new mortalities were already suffering from co-morbidities.
The first is an 89 year-old male who was admitted at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital (NOPH).
He was suffering from pneunomonia and urolithiasis or urinary stones with acute renal failure type two.
The second death is a 59 year-old male who is also admitted at NOPH.
He was found to be suffering from hypertension and lung cancer.
The two mortalities tested positive for COVID-19 after a post-mortem swab test result.
With this, the total number of COVID-related deaths in the province is now at 16 with more than 400 recoveries. (ral/PIA7-Negros Oriental)
