BINALONAN,Pangasinan, Nov 15 (PIA) - The bayanihan sipirt is very much alive as Pangasinenses unite to give aid to flood-stricken Cagayan Valley region.
Presidential Adviser for North Luzon Secretary Raul Lambino took- off from the Binalonan airstrip today to personally deliver the goods and equipment from the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and from the Fifth District of Pangasinan to Region 2.
Lambino, who hails from Pangasinan and is also the Administrator/Executive Officer of the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) said he is deeply saddened with what happened to Region 2.
“Nakakalungkot yung nangyari sa Region 2 partikular na sa Isabela at Cagayan provinces. Kailangan nating matulungan ang ating mga kababayan,” Lambino told the Philippine Information Agency (PIA).
He is thankful, however, that CEZA staff and the economic zone was not much affected and is far from the flood area.
“Sa CEZA, nagtalaga na tayo ng mga relief goods at hygiene kits dahil may problema pa tayo sa Covid-19. Meron na ding mga blankets at iba pang basic necessities,” he added.
Sec. Lambino joined President Rodrigo Roa Duterte who flew to Cagayan today to personally see the situation in the region and at the same time enhance the movement of different national agencies and LGUs to ease the burden and pain of the people in Cagayan and Isabela.
Meanwhile, Pangasinan Fifth District Rep. Ramon Guico III offered the aircrafts in his flying school located in Binalonan town to aid in transporting basic necessities to the flooded areas.
Rep. Guico, who is also chair of the special committee on North Luzon Quadrangle, said National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Executive Director Ricardo Jalad has sent in water purifiers and equipment which were loaded to the aircraft for transport to Cagayan.
“I called for a meeting with the committee members to see how the various agencies of the government can get together to help. Sharing resources especially in times of disasters is one means to help our countrymen in need,” Guico told PIA.
He added that many people also called him to express intention to donate food and unused clothes. This is due for another round of delivery on Wednesday, he said. (JCR/VHS/PIA Pangasinan)
