CALOOCAN CITY, Dec. 23 (PIA) -- The Caloocan City Government is just "waiting" for an accreditation from the Department of Health (DOH) to operate its own COVID-19 testing facility to increase its testing capacity.

This was announced by Mayor Oca Malapitan in his Facebook Page after ensuring that the city will continue providing free expanded testing to residents.

The Caloocan City Government has constructed a molecular laboratory at one of its major hospitals to boost the city’s mass testing capacity.

The laboratory, located at the Caloocan City North Medical Center compound in Camarin, would be capable of conducting reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests, the current gold standard in detecting the presence of the coronavirus in the body.

The mayor also reminded residents who experience symptoms of COVID-19 to visit the nearest baranagay health center in order to be scheduled for free testing.  (PIA NCR)
