CALOOCAN CITY, Dec. 19 (PIA) -- National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief, Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. over the weekend said children are still not allowed to go to the malls in Metro Manila.
"The COVID-19 virus is still everywhere, therefore, I would like to reiterate to our public that minors are still restricted inside Metro Manila malls as agreed upon by the Metro Manila local governments," Danao said in a statement.
He said to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease, minors in malls are still prohibited under general community quarantine--the lockdown status of Metro Manila.
Danao said he has ordered the increase of police visibility in the streets especially in places of convergence during the holiday season especially in shopping malls to maintain peace and order and the observance of health protocols.
"I have doubled visibility of PNP [Philippine National Police] uniformed personnel in shopping malls and other areas of convergence not only to maintain minimum health standards and protocols but to ensure that children are not allowed to enter," he said.
"Without a doubt, the health and safety of our children is our primordial concern, thus, we cannot allow them to wander and contract the virus inside malls. To our young ones, remain at home, enjoy the company of your family, and minimize the risk of getting infected," he added.
"For the parents, to keep our kids engaged inside our houses during the holiday season, you may do the following with them: putting up house decorations, storytelling, creating christmas cards, playing games and singing Christmas carols," Danao furthered.
