CALOOCAN CITY, Dec. 5 (PIA) -- The Department of Health (DOH) will begin answering questions about the COVID-19 vaccine through a massive community information drive by the first week of January 2021.

“Sa ngayon, may sched na tayo na by the third week of December we will start our rounds of government official meetings para lang magkaroon tayo ng initial talk with them. By the first week of January, we will do community mobilization,” DOH USec Rosario Vergeire said in the DOH Media Briefing on Friday, December 4.

Vergeire added that the department will regularly answer questions and provide updates regarding the COVID-19 vaccine along with the conduct of the community engagement activities.

“Meron na tayong existing communications plan at nakipagtrabaho na tayo ngayon with PCOO and PIA para mas wider ang reach natin at mas magkaroon ng robust na pagkocommunicate sa public [tungkol sa COVID-19 vaccine],” Vegeire said.

The DOH, together with the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), has created a communications plan for the COVID-19 vaccine to disseminate the information strategically to the communities and far-flung areas.

The health department will schedule initial meetings with government officials to explain the deployment plan for the COVID-19 vaccines.

“[Ito ay para] ma-level off natin ang expectations [ng government officials] at maipaliwanag natin kung ano mga gagawin natin, ang kanilang specific roles, at what could be expected from them when we start the deployment of vaccines,” Vergeire said.  (PIA-NCR)
