Caloocan grants tax amnesty for real property owners

CALOOCAN CITY, Jan. 4 (PIA) -- Delinquent real property owners in the city can now breathe a sigh of relief as the local government has passed a measure granting them tax amnesty.

Starting today, real property owners can avail of the tax amnesty through walk-in application at the City Treasurer's Office.

The Caloocan City Government urges citizens to avail the existing tax amnesty in the city.

"With tax amnesty it is no longer necessary to charge penalties, interests and surcharges, for people who have not been paid until 2020," Mayor Oca Malapitan said.

"This may be beneficial to owners of land, building and machinery used as residential, commercial, industrial and special," Malapitan added.

"To be advantageous it is necessary to pay the delinquent property in total or installment from January 1, 2021 to June 31, 2021," he further said.

The City Council earlier approved City Ordinance No. 0898 S. 2020 that grants condonation of all accrued penalties, interest, and surcharges from Dec. 31, 2020 and prior years on delinquent real property taxes. (PIA NCR)
