DTI-Davao Occidental now maintains OTOP ‘pasalubong’ center

DAVAO CITY, Dec. 29 (PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry Davao Occidental Program Management Office (DTI-DavOcc PMO) is now maintaining the first and only One Town, One Product (OTOP) ‘pasalubong’ center in the province.

The OTOP Davao Occidental Hub – Balay Pahalipay Pasalubong Center located in the municipality of Sta. Maria, showcases ten (10) food products and five (5) non-food products from OTOPreneurs assisted under the OTOP Next Gen Program.

The name of the hub ‘Balay Pahalipay’ highlights the province’s local products as a symbol of token or ‘pahalipay’ to the tourists that visit the province.

DTI-DavOcc PMO Program Manager Maria Joycelyn Banlasan said that the pasalubong center will give an opportunity for the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the province to expand their market and increase their income.

Banlasan bared that DTI DavOcc PMO will conduct a regular monitoring of sales from the hub and will recruit more entrepreneurs to display and sell their local products in the center.

OTOP Philippines is a priority program of the government to promote entrepreneurship and create jobs and a priority stimulus program for Micro, Small and Medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs).

One of the strategies of the OTOP Philippines is to establish an OTOP Hub in all provinces. (PIA-XI/Samantha Jabol)
